OASIS IS BACK

Are you a fan of cold-hearted bastards? I am. Legendary rock band Oasis has reunited.

Oasis is led by brothers Liam Gallagher on vocals and guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher. These blokes came up in Manchester, England, absolutely not giving a fuck and getting railed on whatever drugs they could get. They led the Britpop movement in the early '90s and infamously beefed it out hard with the band Blur.

Here's what's unique about Oasis. The band would track the songs in the studio, Liam would come in once everything was recorded, and Noel would pass him a sheet of lyrics without giving him any direction on melodies or cadence. Liam would get in the booth and knock it out in just a few takes.

Oasis is one of the last true rock bands. They had personality, attitude, and they loved to party. If you want a deep dive into the band, they have a fantastic documentary on Netflix titled Oasis: Supersonic. As far as albums, my personal favorites are What's the Story (Morning Glory)? and the singles compilation album The Masterplan.

I've put together a YouTube playlist of Oasis music videos, interviews, and a video of them playing live after doing a bunch of meth.

ALBUM RECS

This week I give you, Black And White Raven by Archie James Cavanaugh. Jazzy, funk melodies coupled with Archie’s smooth vocals. You’ll be tapping your feet with this album.

Absolutely one of my favs.

Arsenal’s Game Week 2 Recap

GW2 of the Premier League has come and gone as Arsenal saw Aston Villa away at Villa Park. After doing the double over us last season, ultimately costing us the title, fans of Arsenal knew this would be an early test to see how we’ve grown since last season's campaign. After escaping 2 golden Villa opportunities, one fluffed by Watkins, and the other denied from a world class David Raya save, it was Arsenal who broke the deadlock in 67th minute through Trossard.

The game was capped off by Partey, who angled one from the top of the box into the bottom right corner sealing the game 2-0.

While the scoreline looks comfortable, Villa had stretched us for sustained periods of the game. They had made some significant moves in the transfer window. The stand outs being Onana from Everton, and Morgan Rogers from West Brom in the championship. Morgan Rogers for me was the MOTM, what an athlete and player he is. Tall, shifty, and positive. Every possession he got the ball you could feel the anxiety in the air. If he adds goals to his game under Emery he has the potential to reach incredible heights.

Arsenal completed the signing of Mikel Merino this week from Real Sociedad for a reported fee of 32m. As much of a Kai Havertz fan I am, the experiment at the 8 clearly didn’t suit his strongest attributes, and I think we’ve finally found a more natural replacement for the departure of Granit Xhaka. With the outgoings of Emille Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah, Fabio Viera (Loan) and now Aaron Ramsdale, expect arsenal to make a move for another attacking player.

2 GP, 6 points. One more attacking signing to go, and I think we’ll have a good of squad as any to compete for the title in a make or break season for Mikel Arteta, COYG.

RECIPES

The King of Salad is back. This time with a classic, the Caesar.

Impress your lame ass friends by making a Caesar from scratch.

What you need…

For the salad itself:

Use the nice long shoots of romaine lettuce, don’t use iceberg or some other bullshit. Also, wash it.

A baguette
Oil
Salt
Pepper
Garlic (optional)
Shaved parm

For the dressing:

Olive oil
Lemon
Dijon
Anchovies
Pepper
Egg yolk

What you’ll do…

Rip up a baguette and throw the chunks on a pan. Cover them in oil, salt, pepper, and even a few garlic cloves if you’re feeling froggy. Pop ‘em in the oven at 375-400 and shake them every 15 mins until they turn into rocks.

DRESSING. Don’t be afraid of the canned fish, embrace them. I like to mash up a few cloves of garlic and make a little paste with 2 or three diced up anchovies (the little fish is your salt btw no need to add more salt), this paste will make for a smoother dressing. Juice of one lemon and about a tablespoon of dijon should get the job done (just depends on how many people you are cooking for). Whisk or shake up in a jar profusely.

Shaved parm for the topping - please, not that cheap powder stuff.

If you desire a protein, pan sear some spicy salmon.
