Hivemind Times Issue #9

Welcome To The Hivemind Times!

Welcome to Issue #9 of the Hivemind Times! We’re almost up to double digits and we miss Graydon so much. While we await his return, we’ve been doing some much needed office upkeep here at Hivemind HQ. Tony & Cronk have been building all new sound panels, Riley’s been trying to stay young with botox (and a litttle bit of filler), and Grant is carefully cleaning the eel tank.

In today’s issue, we’ve got Graydon’s trip to dragon mountain, an album recommendation from Riley, and much more! Oh btw, the 100 Sauce Tier List is out now.

Hope you’re having a fantastic week, Enjoy!

ALBUM RECS

Alright I’m switching things up with a new album recommendation… enough old shit, let’s talk about this Origami Angel album. If you’re into 4th wave emo (or whatever wave we’re on now, I’ve lost track) you’ve probably heard of Washington DC band Origami Angel, or “Gami Gang” as they’re sometimes called.

Up to this point, I’ve liked a few songs here and there, but when I heard the buzz for their new LP ‘Feeling Not Found’ produced by legendary rock engineer Will Yip, I decided to dive deeper & I think you should too. This thing’s got all the pop sensibility of an All American Rejects album, the slick indie sophistication of a Motion City Soundtrack record, and the digestible post-hardcore angst of an early Microwave LP.

Aside from the clever writing and glossy production, what I enjoy most about this new collection of Origami Angel songs is the way they play with your expectations - often mutating from sugary pop emo to clenched-fist hardcore (a la Turnstile) in an instant, then snapping back like it never happened.

If you like emo, modern indie, dreamy hardcore music or pop punk, I highly recommend this one.

Favorite track: Fruit Wine

TRAVEL

Graydon went to dragon mountain

So I woke up today in Lucerne, Switzerland hungover and sick from a five course meal that ruined my gut from the night before. Alas, Raymond had just joined us and we needed to get active. After a little research we learned we could pop over to Mt. Pilatus and ride a little ridiculous trolley to the top then catch a boat home. It was on.

After a quick exchange of currency and broken German questioning we were on a smooth train to Alpnaschstad. Upon arriving and giving some CHF to a woman named Cecile we were on our way on the actual steepest train in the world to the top of Mt.Pilatus, where Pontius Pilate is buried? Or it’s home to dragons? Idk but shit looked incredible.

Once we got to the top they were selling watches (obviously) and an assortment of soup and beer, we obliged. We learned about the dragon stones and visits from Queen Victoria the first and froze our dicks off while waiting for fog to clear to catch some glimpses of the most amazing views I’ve ever seen in my little life. Am I the only man from Swanton to summit Mt.Pilatus, I wondered, while sneaking hooch onto the tram down from the Alps.

We hit the base just in time to hop on a ferry back to Lucerne which supplied us with more incomprehensible views that attempted to bring me to tears. As a little German boy threatened to jump into the lake I couldn’t help but think to myself I’d happily jump in to help save him because what a better place to die. Then on the way home we saw a rainbow while on our 4th mode of transport (bus).

Anyway, miss y’all - enjoy these pics.
