That’s right in case you didn’t see it this week. We released a fun new card game to the world that allows you to build ever lasting memories with people of all kinds. This has been an absolute labor of love the last year and a half for us and I feel an immense sense of pride and genuinely am so excited for people to start playing it.

Ok enough of that real deal emotional stuff lets talk WW3. Just kidding. Anyway this is the 79th edition of the Hivemind Times and thanks for reading I hope you enjoy the odd tidbits we cram in here each week.

Have a good weekend fools.

How One Wellness Brand Is Helping America Sleep Better

You know the importance of sleep, but actually getting enough is easier said than done. One wellness brand decided to study the problem and whether CBD could help.

CBD users have long reported feeling calmer and sleeping better, whether taking the compound by itself or with related hemp-derived compounds like CBN and THC. But rumor isn’t research, so CBDistillery conducted two sleep studies: a 2021 study into CBD and CBN, and a 2023 study with technology app Releaf into CBD, CBN and THC.

Study participants who took CBD and CBN reported falling asleep easier and sleeping an hour longer per night, on average. Study participants who took THC as well as CBD and CBN reported improved quality of sleep and waking up more refreshed the next morning.

Want to experience better sleep and still wake up refreshed? Try CBDistillery’s sleep solutions for yourself and save 25% with code SLP25.

MOVIE REVIEW

Train Dreams sucked and I am not sorry. 1/5

This propped up piece of shit had every hallmark of a disgustingly dramatic Netflix shot movie. Something about that damn camera just turns my stomach. It is the exact opposite appearance of something on film and it’s gross a majority of the time.

The damn narrator carried so much weight that I had to check that I wasn’t watching some weird documentary halfway through. The book it was based off of is short and the shoot itself was under 30 days, two elements that come through in this finished product that I felt both crammed in plot points and dragged out other scenes ad nauseam.

I will not fold on this even if my opinion might have been skewed by the bong I smoked. Oscar bait, that somehow worked in terms of noms, but I pray goes home empty handed. This past year had so many more deserving movies than this shit.

Fight me.

POEM OF THE WEEK

E.E. Cummings (1894-1962)

after five

after five
times the poem
of thy remembrance
surprises with refrain

of unreasoning summer
that by responding
ways cloaked with renewal
my body turns toward
thee

again for the stars have been
finished in the nobler trees and
the language of leaves repeats

eventual perfection
while east deserves of dawn.
i lie at length, breathing
with shut eyes

the sweet earth where thou liest

SAM TALLENT WROTE A COMIC FOR A GREAT CAUSE

Hatchets Exhumed, a new comic written by Sam Tallent (friend of the show, comedian, author of “Running the Light”) and drawn by skateboard artist Van Eggers is available for pre-order.

In an effort to raise lawyer fees for Van and his father, both facing a wrongful assault on a police officer charge, Sam and Van offer you this insane story of revenge as well as a never published short story from Sam. All proceeds go to Van and his Dad. Get it if you like gnarly stuff/you’re tired of The Man stepping on your neck. $20 is nothing to pay for a man’s freedom.

RECIPES

Congee (Rice Porridge)

Ingredients:

  • Rice

  • Chicken or veggie broth

  • Garlic

  • Ginger

  • Scallions

  • Salt & pepper (white pepper if you have it)

  • Toasted sesame oil or soy sauce (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash/rinse your rice. Don’t skip this step, or the congee will turn out sticky.

  2. Bring your broth to a boil, using about a 1:8 rice to broth ratio.

  3. Add the rice, chopped garlic and ginger, and the white parts of the scallions.

  4. Lower the heat and let it simmer for about 45 minutes. Stir every so often so nothing sticks to the bottom.

  5. Once the rice has broken down into a creamy consistency, season with salt and pepper. Optionally, add a splash of sesame oil and/or soy sauce.

  6. Top with the green parts of the scallions and serve.
