Hivemind Times Issue #61
Spooky season is upon us in more ways than one
Welcome To The Hivemind Times!
Hello there sweeties. Copes was in town this whole week and he is solely to blame for the lack of production over here. Well that and Riley’s serious illness (he will beat it and be better).
We will have a banger of a second channel video coming out today with a new and talented guest so stay tuned. Monday will be one of the biggest days in Youtube history when we drop the longest video ever recorded by two men from the greater Toledo area.
Until then enjoy this juicy piece of journalism and the warmth of friendship that I hope surrounds you this weekend as we tumble along into October. Keep your head up and your mind sharp for these are curious times.

WEEKLY PLAYLIST
Hey guys, it's your friendly neighborhood Grant.
Sorry for my absence the last few weeks. What’s important is that I am back and I made a playlist for you. This is just about all of the music I’ve been listening to consistently the last month or so. I hope you have a good weekend and can get one or two saves out of it!
MOVIE REVIEW
Graydon with some spooky movie suggestions
It Comes at Night - Trey Edwards Shults (2017)

This one just became available for streaming on HBO and man I feel like it really slipped by a lot of people back when it came out. This is truly good stuff and for people who are like me that kinda hate when things are spoon fed to them or overly explained at the end with a neat bow you will really appreciate this. You really get dropped right into an intense paranoid family situation that only gets more tense as fear itself is truly the monster at play.
OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Tobe Hooper (1974)

Straight up genre definer. It’s classic top to bottom. Unapologetic, unsophisticated but still manages to make you think and wonder. A ridiculous chase scene and just an awesome beast of a killer. I am fans of the remakes but haven’t revisited the OG until recently, and wow it's worth it.
When Evil Lurks - Demián Rugna (2023)

This shit has some truly original moments that make for a super memorable watch. It’s a deep and strange world that is built here. I've watched it three times and remain fascinated. Don’t wanna spoil anything if you can give it a go.
Cape Fear - Martin Scorsese (1991)

Ok not a classic horror here but god its a spooky one. Historic De Niro accent on display here. Awesome tattoos. Bible verses galore. Epic chase down.
QUINN’S CHEMISTRY CLASS
My epic Wednesday night
Today I will tell the tale of my wild adventure this past Wednesday (yesterday as I’m writing this).
The night begins when Riwey, Copes, my beautiful and sweet girlfriend Lizzie, and myself arrive at the Bladee show at the Fillmore in Detroit. The show was a little short, only Ripsquaad and Bladee played but Bladee played so many fan favorite bangers, it was awesome.
Off the top of my head he played dumpster baby, sugar, into dust, hotel breakfast, egobaby, and waster (it was Waster Wednesday). I copped a tour hoodie for one hundred fucking dollars (pic below).

During the show, Copes befriended a Czechian woman from Prague named Nelly, and we met up with our friend Ray. Real Hiveminders will know who Ray is. After the show, we all headed to a local dive bar we frequent to play pool and meet up with Graydon. This is where the night became epic.
About 45 minutes before close, Lizzie, Nelly, and I stepped outside to smoke some camel blues that Graydon had, next to the fireplace. Horrible tasting cigarette by the way, camel blues taste like burning lego smoke.
So, we were all sitting beside the fire and this 6ft tall, long curly haired freak walked up to the property line of the bar on the sidewalk, right outside the entrance to the table/smoking section we were all sitting at. He started loudly proclaiming his love and devotion to the orange pedophile president, guessing we would agree with him I assume. Unfortunately for him, we all started making fun of Donald Dump, which didn’t really seem to upset him at first.
Then, he started going on about how Trump is so handsome, which is obviously an insane thing to say even if you’re a MAGA lobotomite, so we all started laughing at him and Lizzie said that he looks like a wrinkly ballsack. That made us all laugh even more and then the curly haired troglodyte with a brain worm said, “But wouldn’t you like to see my hairy ballsack?” to my girlfriend and then grabbed his nuts. Lizzie immediately told him he needs to leave. Then, I started warning him that he needs to leave right now, but instead of leaving he walked towards us and started talking about Jesus and God and Christianity like it gave him some moral high ground that allowed him to act however he wanted.
The way we were sitting, Lizzie and Nelly were in between me and the worm brain, which is an issue. So, I started yelling at him to get the fuck out of here right now before it becomes an issue for him. I don’t really remember exactly what he said after that but he started walking even closer to us talking shit and making weirdly sexual remarks (very christian like behavior) until he got about 5 feet away from the women, so I stood up and got in between them and he told me to (perform fellatio on him). This was the point where I gave him the option to either listen to me, or I would send him to hospital.
He took another step forward so I put my hand on his greasy chest and without going into detail, let’s just say allegedly I beat the absolute piss out of that primitive invertebrate sludge. It ended with him laying on the concrete in fetal position begging for mercy and apologizing.
Am I surprised a guy who worships and voted for a pedophile that was held liable for sexual abuse and was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s best friends was harassing women at a bar? No.
Did it feel great to turn his face into slime? Yes.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing
The moral of the story is, don’t let people get away with this type of behavior. The reason he thought it was okay to do what he did is because he has probably been doing it his entire life and people are too afraid to stand up for themselves. I’m not saying we should all go around beating the shit out of people but sometimes violence truly is the only answer.

LOCAL MUSIC SPOTLIGHT
Assemble Sound’s story

Assemble Sound has probably been responsible for some of your favorite music out of Detroit. Probably some of your least favorite too. They don’t care and are equally proud of both.
Assemble Sound was founded with a simple guiding belief - create a free collaborative space for artists to grow as creators and humans and you’ll probably see artists grow as creators and humans. After writing dozens of letters to vacant churches, they turned this belief into a reality in 2015 with the purchase of an 1872 sanctuary in Corktown.
Despite the dilapidated roof, shoddy electrical, no plumbing or heat, and 5,000 pounds of bird shit in the steeple, they moved into the building, set up four DIY recording studios, and got to work. That work mostly sounded like music and felt like magic, and it transformed countless lives in the years that followed.

Over the last 10 years they’ve given hundreds of Detroit artists over 150,000 hours of free studio time with their “artist-in-residency” program. They’ve hosted dozens of free music industry panels. They’ve put millions of dollars into the pockets of independent artists from Michigan and beyond by placing their music in TV shows, films, and ads. And in 2022 they launched a record label in partnership with Atlantic Records, which they run independently from Detroit.
A new home
After selling their initial church, last year Assemble signed a 10-year lease on a raw industrial space on the east side of Detroit. They’ve spent the last 18 months quietly building out their new office and studio compound there.
It won’t officially open til next year, but we asked them if we could get a sneak peak at the progress. They designed it all, and have built a lot of it themselves.
That’s probably why it’s taking forever :)
