Hivemind Times Issue # 48
Featuring a playlist from Quinn...this should be good
Welcome To The Hivemind Times!
Hello friends, family and cohorts. Graydon Weaver here, son of Larry and Lisa. Welcome to the Hivemind Times issue 48!
Hope everyone enjoyed the second channel videos this week, abbreviations bracket and meme format tier list with Wahony. Next week will be sure to have some bangers hit the airways, maybe even the return of something classic who tf knows.
If you’re like me you’ll be happy next week because Love Island will come to an end and maybe I can talk to random people about something else for a change. When you’re done reading this juicy issue go outside and enjoy some of this hot hot heat.
Happy July 11th may this be the best weekend of your little senseless life.

WEEKLY PLAYLIST
Every week when Graydon asks me to write something for the newsletter I always say I’m gonna do a playlist as a joke and every time he’s like “____ already did one, you can’t do one. Also im a fucking idiot loser and you’re way cooler than me and better than me at everything especially hooking up w mad bitches yo. Let’s hit the dive bar!!!” or some shit like that.
This week I said I was gonna do a write up on kratom extracts (I will next week) but I can’t be fucked right now and I want to show the newsletter readers what I’ve been listening to so I’m doing a playlist. Sue me Graydon! Fire ME!! I DON'T CARE. Bitch.
Sludge metal band I saw at the sanctuary a few weeks ago, vocalist is so sick, very black metal fry screams, opens with a blast beat section that goes into a really visceral and catchy refrain, very chuggy. Basically everything you want from a sludge metal song.
Early hardcore techno guy, p sure the genre is called “Hardtek”, it's a pre-cursor to modern hardstyle. Close to gabber. I’m not that familiar with hardcore techno but I’m p sure that’s correct. This song doesn’t have any of those screaming leads and synths you hear in modern stuff. It is straight up just a massive kickdrum with reverb pumping and deep bass sidechain with little laser sound effects throughout for like 5 minutes, but it gets crazier as the track goes on. Sounds like you’re in a Berlin warehouse party in the 90s.
Classic black kray song, need I say more? Thug angels shyne my lifestyle.
I was listening to so many newer deathcore bands and albums trying to find something close to that raw 2000s sound like Carnifex - Dead In My Arms or Suicide Silence - The Cleansing. Nothing really satiated my thirst until I came across this band. This song is from last year and the mix is so perfectly sounding like that 2000s era deathcore. Vocals are nuts, breakdown is mint, guitar tone is perfect, drummer must be an alien with 4 arms. And they added an 808 that makes the entire track distort and crunch everytime it hits, it’s just fucking sick.
It's that new genre that's not actually breakcore but everyone on the internet and tiktok calls it breakcore but it’s really just breakbeat with chopped breaks and completely modern sound design. The breaks in this one are actually so tough though, and the sample selection outside of the drums is very lush. A lot of fast vocal chopping alongside some ethereal pads and gliding synths that are broken up with beat cut-outs and melodic bridges. Very beautiful.
Classic SALEM banger that was a Youtube exclusive until like a month ago. I’ve been rinsing it again since the spotify drop.
I have no idea what this genre is called but it’s that extremely distorted digicore adjacent shit and it’s so awesome.
I almost cried the first time I listened to this. Still not sure why.
BNO.
Beautiful 2 minute long intro with slowly evolving rhythmic synths and basses that culminate with a classic jungle/breaks style release that takes me back to when I first discovered jungle for the first time but in a more modern context. I rinse this one all the time. The entire track has some type of bit reduction on it that makes it sound so 90s era early breaks its so fire. A lot of repetitive chopped instrumental sampling and melody. Also the bass patch is almost 1:1 old school jungle reese bass.

CRONK’S UPDATE
IM SPENDING MONEY LIKE CRAZY AND IT'S BECOMING A PROBLEM
I love money, I love spending it, I sit on Facebook Marketplace all day and dream of good deals and dopamine. For once in a long time, I'm spending my cash on something worthwhile, a good cinema camera. For those who aren't familiar I dabble in music under the name Rosevile Sucks. I have always loved making music videos but usually it's done out of necessity for our friends like Tommy Fleece, Rozey and Ally Evenson. Now that I got some songs out there in the world, I've gotten a little bit of money from them and I'm gonna buy some good camera stuff.
![]() | The past few years I have had to beg borrow and steal equipment. After using a Blackmagic camera a few years ago I have dreamed of having one of my own. They actually aren't that expensive, which is surprising because a Blackmagic 6K (like 1300$) looks just as good as a Sony FX3 (3300$). |
I was gonna buy a Blackmagic 6K Pro, until further research, the Blackmagic 4K is real damn good for like 700$. So as we speak I'm locked in on the Marketplace, cutting deals like a stockbroker for a 7 year old camera. I'm having a blast.
The nice part of buying a cheaper camera body is I have more money for accessories. I've never had access to a selection of lenses, lights and video monitors. These things aren't that expensive either as long as you're just doing video. eBay has an insane selection of vintage 8mm film camera lenses, Soviet Union era lenses, and high end photography lens from the 80 90s (Canon FD, Carl Zeiss Contax. So my plan is to buy as many cool vintage lenses for like 50 200$ as I possibly can before I get evicted.

Another surprising thing I have found is that REAL MOVIE LIGHTS (Fresnel lights) which are tungsten lamps are way way way cheaper than new LED lights on Amazon. The downside is they get hot but you're telling me I can use the real shit for half the price? Seriously, two of these Mole Richardson lights are 150$ on Marketplace, you couldn't get 1 decently bright LED light for that price. They used these lights on shit like Casablanca, take my fucking money now.

So I'm spending money like crazy but really it's not that bad because I'm gonna get everything to make a killer music video for like around 2 grand.
Thanks for reading, I will report back next week on my purchases after I overdraft my account.

The Latest on Arsenal

Arsenal are scaring me.
52 million Great British Pounds for Noni Madueke. Thus far I’ve been very encouraged by our business: Zubimendi, Norgaard, and Kepa in. One starter, and 2 squad depth options. Gyokeres is not over the line at the time of this writing. It has me raising questions. Surely Madueke has been brought in for Saka minutes relief. Right? Right????? I’m holding back my tears until the window closes.
My anger mainly comes from the order of signings, we know we need a striker, we know we need a LW. If Madueke came in after signing Gyokeres and Rodrygo (prayge) I would be buzzing. My only hope is that addressing those issues is still a high priority, and as a fan all I can do is hope for the best and support Noni.
There’s also been talks we’ve been in talks with Eze, another player I really appreciate. Would be an excellent addition. But man, we need to sell. I don’t know how we bring in $250m worth of players, Arsenal have never done that before. Get delusional.
Also Spurs signed Kudus which is a bummer because I have to hate watch him now (what a player)

MOVIE REVIEW
Bring Her Back (2025)

So I finally got to see Bring Her Back. The second film from the Philippou brothers, the first being the smash hit Talk To Me. These Australian boys started out on the humble platform YouTube and have become a lowkey pretty phenomenal director duo.
This movie first off looks great. The mid century Australian house and moody weather scenes all make for a real intense beautiful vibe. It does fall into grief horror a la hereditary and explores the extent a mother might go to get her beloved daughter back.
Sally Hawkins as the mom puts on a very very good, very spooky performance. The kids are sturdy as well and the plot feels rather fresh.
**Spoiler** We get to see a kid eat a knife and a table which are horror movie firsts for me and I commend the creativity. Slightly predictable ending but overall I fucked with this movie and you should watch it when you get a chance!
Go movies!
