CRONKS UPDATE

Hey all!

Since David Lynch's passing last month, I've been watching his entire filmography, and holy shit, it's wild. I watched Twin Peaks (the TV show, not the movie) a few years ago, not expecting much, but I was surprised when it turned out to be a certified banger. After watching some behind-the-scenes footage and reading his book, I realized he’s probably the only person anyone should ever listen to on creativity. He’s like Rick Rubin if he actually made the music instead of just helping out with it.

So far, from his filmography, I’ve watched Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Dr., and Inland Empire. Next up, I'm gonna watch Lost Highway and the Twin Peaks movie. If you guys have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

I put together a playlist of some cool interviews and behind-the-scenes clips—if you're an artist, I think you'll get a kick out of his thoughts on artistry and creativity. If you've never been exposed to his work or need a cool TV show to watch, I truly think everyone should at least check out the first few episodes of the Twin Peaks TV show from 1990.

ALBUM RECS

Eem Triplin - Melody of a Memory (2025)

I was first introduced to Eem Triplin as a producer for $NOT all the way back in 2020, then a batch of catchy solo singles in 2022. The moment I heard Eem’s compressed vocal style, I immediately knew there was something there; but never could’ve predicted his artistic evolution to this point.

On Melody of a Memory, Eem’s instrumental palette is more diverse and detail-oriented than ever. The result is a collection of danceable, instantaneous and essential rap songs that feel like a bridge from one generation to the next. Many will draw comparisons to Flower Boy & Igor era Tyler the Creator, and that’s fair - Eem’s breakout single was a freestyle over the “Awkward” instrumental after all. In another timeline, pop stan Twitter might even call Melody of a Memory “Tyler the Creator’s reheated nachos” but I believe it’s much more than that. I think fans of Mac Miller’s later era melodic tracks & the 2015-2018 golden age of SoundCloud rap will find a lot to like here.

While it’s clear that Eem has improved as a producer and crafter of songs, his biggest super power remains his unique voice. I never hear an Eem Triplin song and mistake it for anyone else.

Oh yeah, and there’s a Ty Dolla $ign feature on here.

They shut down Wemby man…

For my basketball fans I have to just express how fucking devastating this is real quick.

The Spurs had been by far my second most watched team and if you’ve seen Victor play for more than two seconds you know exactly why. To put it into simple numbers he attempted over 400 three balls shooting 35.2% and blocked 176 shots - that has never been done and he did it in 46 games. The guy is a complete anomaly and was -2000 to win defensive player of the year but will now sadly be ineligible to win because he will fall short of the 60 some games you are required to play to win awards.

This is just a god awful sign for what is supposed to be the most dominant guy of the next 12 years. The team traded for another all star at the deadline and obviously wanted to push into the playoffs this year so this shut down isn’t just over precautious we suck this year let's save the sports car for better weather type shit.
The medical reasoning is deep vein thrombosis which from my extensive research is like blood clots that require blood thinners to fix which you can’t take while playing a semi contact sport. It’s also something at least I’ve never heard of a guy dealing with so you can’t help but assume it’s due to his freakish 7’5 body frame which will never get any smaller.

The management of an alien-like man child was always gonna be the biggest challenge for the Spurs and man, in year 2 to see this really just bums me out. I pray they cure this giant of his ailments and we get a full 82 game season out my little French freak next year, I love you Wemby prayers up!

Premier League Title Race

I’ll be completely honest, I’ve been avoiding talking about football because I didn’t want to feel an extra connection to the title race by admitting I’m slightly hopeful to y’all.

Liverpool drop 2 points away at Villa, then play Manchester City at the Etihad, THEN play Newcastle. This is the make or break stretch of the season for Liverpool. In my opinion, if they leave their next two fixtures with 6 points, they go on to win the league.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are in the most dire injury crisis right as the run-in is beginning. It’s almost impossible to feel optimistic about our chance at the league with 3 fit attackers. The only shining light we have going forward is through Nwaneri, a 17 y/o. But man, he’s so fucking good. It’s unbelievable that if we’re going to get anything out of this season it’ll be down to whether or not a child can produce G/A every week, and Merino can play striker… I digress.

Despite all the noise on social media, Arsenal are 15 games unbeaten in the league. Through all of the controversial red cards and injuries to key players, I hate that I feel a glimmer of hope, but what’s the beautiful game without a little delusion.

Up the fookin’ Gunners.
