Hivemind Times Issue #25
Welcome To The Hivemind Times!
Back like I never left, it's your humble editor and chief in command of the Hivemind Times, the number one trusted source in the media, period. This week has been nothing short of electric over here at HQ, Cronk taught us some lessons in pimpin’, Tony and I drank out of double cups all week, Quin fell asleep at his desk, and of course Riley crashed out!
Besides all of that thrill, we did manage to film some fun stuff for the channel - the return of puns may not be slept on. That felt so good to do again, even if I seemed pissed the whole time <3. Well I’ll try and fill this week’s edition with as much random shit I can think of.
Hope you enjoy and have a great weekend.

WEEKLY PLAYLIST
I enjoy very little less than when I find myself turning over a stone in some pocket of music history and discover just a thriving little ecosystem I was otherwise unaware of. Now I have always been a fan of the Bosa era of the late 50’s and 60’s, and I have also been a long time fan of Marcos Valle once I traced Leon Ware’s bass player straight to him. But as I think, it isn’t all that uncommon for deep genres of world music, or rather, genres that are just at a further distance from your comfort zone or normal listening pockets - I just had yet to really do my due diligence.
Something clicked this Tuesday night and I began unearthing the intersection of bosa, samba, and traditional Brazilian folk music with the blow torch arrangements of funk, the beautiful recognizable vocal stylings of soul music, and the experimental electronic elements of psychedelic rock. Rooting out these kinds of crossroads is what keeps me alive, and in this case, it kept me up until damn near 4 am.
I highly encourage you to poke around in these artist’s bios and follow some of the links, played with, learned from, recorded with etc. There are truly some amazing stories in here that, if you don’t speak Portuguese, really help fill in some color. Clube Esquina, Martola, Flavio Venturini, and Hyldon were my windows in. I hope some of you get an equal kick out of learning history through music and finding out that in every corner of the world for a very long time they’ve been making fucking jams, and if you’re from Brazil I’d love some more suggestions of this era of 70’s to mid 80’s.
One love and VIVA O FUNK.

VALENTINE’S DAY IS COMING
What should you buy for your sweetie? |
SPORTS
A Rematch of Super Bowl LVII
Not gonna toot my own horn here but I said it, Chiefs vs Eagles we go. Bundle-a-rooski-fuck myself. I’m almost more excited for the commercials than this repeat of two years ago.
Philly instantly proved why they are so unlikable by the way they celebrated in the streets after the victory, except for surrounding Paul George’s car, ‘cause that was funny. RIP to that poor crazy kid who climbed the poll smh. And well, Travis Kelce sang again, which if that doesn’t make you burp up some game day chili idk what the fuck is wrong with you.
Anyway I’m just here to make my initial round of my SB predictions, next week I’ll probably choose a bunch of the goofy prop bets. But for now I’m picking KC 28 - PHI 17. Hang in there non-football fans, we are almost done!!!!!
Also the Westminster Dog Show is coming up and we all better be rooting for A PUG.

It’s the two week anniversary of the Hivemindgrant Twitch streams and to celebrate we’ll be doing the exact same thing: Maxing our potential, competing at the highest level, and never giving up.
So far we’ve played Red Dead Redemption, Marvel Rivals, and had some New Music Fridays/music nights. Behind the scenes I’m gonna start working on an easy overlay to do Premiere League watch alongs on weekend mornings (EST). Unfortunately, it won’t be ready for Arsenal’s clash with Man City this weekend, but expect it to be ready for the following weekend.
Thank you guys for all the follows, subs, and goofs. I’ve been having a blast hanging with ya’ll.
